I’m a Dominican singer/songwriter who expresses myself in both Spanish and English. My journey in music truly began just over a year ago when I left my day job and started translating songs to reconnect with Spanish, a language I started losing touch with due to lack of practice. It’s been amazing to see how people have resonated with my videos.
Growing up Dominican-American, I grappled with a constant sense of not fitting in—whether it was not feeling American enough, not Dominican enough, or just being different in appearance and perspective.

Social media is what I call, a beast, a beautiful beast. I once heard a great insight about it being a tool to document one’s journey (I believe Gary Vee mentioned this). Initially, I was hesitant to post because my flaws were obvious to me, and I feared others would notice them too. The beauty of my journey lies in the fact that anyone can visit my page and visibly witness my growth firsthand. It’s like a time-lapse of my afro expanding, my voice gaining strength, and my confidence blossoming.

I’m grateful because only I truly understand the fear I had to overcome just to put myself out there. And I’ve become better because of it. I refer to social media as a beast because it has a unique ability to unveil your inner truth. It has a way of coaxing out insecurities and fears, leaving you to decide how to confront them and navigate the platform.

It’s an incredible opportunity to connect with other souls, but it’s essential to remember that it’s not the only opportunity out there, and it’s never worth sacrificing your peace of mind for.

HER STORY: 

For five years, I served as a manager at a restaurant, where I learned many invaluable lessons—not just about managing people and leadership, but also about myself. Over time, my passion for singing and songwriting grew stronger yet seemingly more distant with each passing year. Truth be told, I had enough self-belief to dream but lacked the courage to take concrete steps forward. I began to realize, my hesitation not only held me back but also affected those around me.

One day, I sought financial advice from my boss, specifically about stock investment. He said: “The best investment is in yourself.” His words stuck with me. Though I doubt he intended to push me towards a decision, I’ll forever be grateful for his guidance. It took me about a year of saving and a lot of self growth before I got the courage to quit. It was a monumental leap, one that challenged me to my core.

Investing in myself has been a journey of self-discovery, challenging my core beliefs and forcing me to reassess them daily.
